Nov 25, 2008 - There were no major surprises in the 4th day of action at the 2008 Yonex-Sunrise Phils National Open Badminton Championships held at the YPBC,
Arguably considered as the toughest Open Men’s Singles draw in YSPNOBC 5-year history, the Men’s Singles event features former Philippine National team members and current national team standouts. Other winners in the Men’s Singles Open Event R32 were Ian Gil Piencenaves of Butuan City Badminton Club/PLDT and Jornelleous Castro of Iloilo Doctors College/Valiant Club of Iloilo. Former national team member Owen Lopez was not as lucky as his former teammates in the Phils team as he fall to pesky Heildenberg Dimarucot of the University of the East in one of the closely-contested match of the evening, 21-16, 21-12.
In the Open Men’s Doubles category, top 2 seeded pairs Bryan Chan/Michael Paclibar of DLSU and Joffre Arollado and Cliff Marvin Yan of Solid Badminton Club easily advanced to the R16 by winning their matches in less than 20 minutes. While in the Open Women’s Doubles category,
